I know, comparing storage and data management to dieting, I must be crazy right? Well yes, but for different reasons for a different post. However, dieting and data management are actually a lot more similar than you think.
If you read most Top Ten lists for what is important to CIO’s, you’ll notice that server virtualization has either fallen to the bottom of the list, or completely dropped off. It’s a logical thought considering VMware/HyperV/Citrix have been around for several years now and the idea of spinning up a virtual server is common place in most enterprise environments and pretty easy to do. But what about the 1-3 man IT shops that have 20-40 servers and a few TB of data?
