Cloud technology has emerged as a serious platform for service delivery for today’s businesses. I spend most my day working with clients and outlining options on how to solve real business challenges using cloud technology. As a result, I’m sure my perspective is heavily biased.
Overview Rarely a day passes where I do not interact with a client asking about how to leverage SQL services in Azure. There are many reasons why I have these conversations: Older SQL server instances such as 2008/2005/2000 are either out of support or ending soon (SQL Server 2008 SP4 is currently supported but it is in Extended Support mode).
Setting the Stage I believe everyone will agree that cloud technology has been and will continue to be disruptive to businesses and consumers. Creative people are finding new ways each day to deliver new business services faster and with less investment. Gartner and many other thought leaders at the intersection of business and technology both advocate and recognize that “Cloud First” is a dominant strategy right now for many organizations.
